He characterizes himself a “progressive evangelical”, criticizing the excesses of both the theological left and right. He often decries the abandonment of traditional values among liberals, but also the ugly, reactionary habits of some conservatives.
I sure wouldn’t mind being described that way. Michael Spencer calls it post-evangelicalism. That’s a good term.
Of course, in the end you are despised by those on your left and on your right. It’s a lonely life.
