Christians are not justified merely to be proudly displayed as trophies on the wall of God’s heavenly den. God has an earthly mission for the former sinners he has salvaged from their headlong plummet to certain death. He has things he wants done in this world, and he wants the church to do it. Paul’s imperatives imply that God will not coerce us to serve him; we must choose to cooperate in his cause.
